Residential, retail and industrial development continues at full throttle in Race City USA, known as such for the more than 60 motorsports racing teams located here. This town of approximately 27,000 people is located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, 30 miles north of Charlotte. The city is home to Lowe’s Home Improvement Co. headquarters, as well as several international manufacturing businesses. The nation’s largest man-made lake by surface area, Lake Norman, offers both recreation and highly desirable real estate. Both the city and county school systems have earned national recognition for technology programs and academic excellence.

Mooresville is in the Piedmont section of North Carolina, so it has four distinct seasons while being close to both the mountains and the coast.
Schools
Mooresville and South Iredell County families are served by Iredell-Statesville Schools and the Mooresville Graded School District. Iredell-Statesville Schools ranks among the 20 largest school districts in North Carolina. Both systems are known for heavily integrating technology into the classroom and plan to continue enhancing those efforts. The Mooresville Graded School District's Digital Conversion Initiative has been gaining national recognition. That effort provides every student with a laptop or PDA, depending on grade level.
